The Pisces child has great potentialities for good. They are deeply spiritual children, always wishing for the perfect and the beautiful, and living, alas, too much in dreams and fancies. They have little sense of realism and have no idea of what the world is like, or what it expects of them in the way of accomplishment.

They are often talented, especially in music, designing and painting, poetry and prose, but they lack self-confidence, and they have not the urge of the creator to develop their work and put it before the world. They enjoy reading and studies, but are shy, secretive, and timid about taking an oral part in school discussions. They have no confidence in their own ability, and when doing their work, if it is difficult, they want to throw it aside for fear that they will not succeed. They shrink from the pain of failure; consequently they had much rather not try at all.

The problem of the parents here is to induce a sense of realism. It is true that life is difficult, but not nearly as haft as it appears to the Piscean. Child must learn “That life is real, life is earnest, and the grave is not its goal.” Even to them as children, the other world, where they believe al is perfection, is preferable to this world, where progress is usually the result of intelligent effort.

The wise parent will instill self-confidence, out line the chances for success or failure in any piece of work undertaken, and most important, see that it is done. The direction of effort, and the completion of every piece of work started regardless of limitations, is the only system upon which to build character in the fragile, sensitive Pisces child.

 The Piscean Parents
